What’s New on May 10, 2020

Well hello again, friend.

It’s been an amazing week at HumankindNOW: a fancy new website, more than 750 requests for PPE in one day, a big donation of PPE to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), heartfelt connections with our donors and PPE recipients, and much more.

Our all volunteer team continues to work at top speed everyday to find, fund and deliver PPE to front line workers across the country. We are pleased to report that we’ve had phenomenal results, thanks to your support.

As of Friday May 8th, we have shipped approximately 37,000 N95 masks, 4,300 surgical and KN95 masks, 1,000 surgical gowns and 1,160 goggles to front line workers who have requested PPE. We are shipping more next week, so stay tuned.

Front Line Workers REALLY Need PPE

HumankindNOW is overwhelmed with demand for PPE by front line workers. Four days after our new website launched, requests for PPE skyrocketed to a high of 750 in one day. Our front line workers continue to need PPE in enormous quantities that are outstripping our current supplies, and we are working to better meet this demand.

In the next few days, we will be limiting the number of packages available per day.  This helps us better scale up our shipping and processes to meet this enormous demand. Limiting our daily packages also helps us ensure we have the supply to match requests.  If you requested it, you’ll get it (as long as you are a valid front line worker). We don’t expect the limiting of daily packages to continue in the long term, but it is necessary now to ensure we don’t run out of supplies entirely.

Over the next few weeks, we will need a lot more supply and donations. So we ask you, kind reader, please donate to HumankindNOW, and this tiny little all-volunteer non-profit will turn that donation into sweet, sweet PPE for front line workers. The more money we raise, the more lives they can save.

For the front line workers in need of PPE and who are unable to request it from us due to limited stock. we are sorry and our hearts go out to you.  Please check back daily.

The Unsung Heroes In The Fight Against COVID-19

What's New on May 10, 2020 - donor carolyn

In humankind’s fight against COVID-19, there are many heroes. Front line workers, essential workers, volunteers and, one that we sometimes overlook, donors.  Donors are the reason that we can provide PPE to front line workers.  For all the testimonials that say thank you to HumankindNOW, it is really the donors that should be thanked.

We wanted to share a few testimonials this week from donors, who fuel the engine that powers this life-saving Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang. We love you!

"I donated because our frontline workers are fighting this unprecedented battle for us and they need to be protected."
~ Sarah in California
“In a time when I was feeling desperate to help protect my colleagues on the frontline, I was so grateful that humankindNOW provided an opportunity for me to help! Grateful for their quick response to help our country and donating to them gave me peace that my money was actually going to front line workers in need.”
~ Denise in New York
“In this time of quarantine I am not spending as much money. As I had extra at the end of last month I wanted to put it to some good use. This cause is so important and necessary. Happy to be able to help in a small way. Donating is my way of thanking and helping essential workers.”
~ Carolyn in California (two time donor)
"I donated to help protect our health care workers (real life superheroes) who are working so hard!"
~ Nat in California

Help us reach our $500,000 goal by donating at HumankindNOW.org. The more money we raise, the more lives they can save.

We’ve Reached A Milestone

With an estimated 1,380 front line workers protected to date, HumankindNOW has surpassed 10% of its goal to donate PPE to 10,000 front line professionals.  Thank you to all the donors who have helped us to help them.

Front Line Testimonial of the Week

“Thank you SO much for the generous PPE donation! We have not been able to get them from anywhere else and they have been a lifesaver during this time! This is a few of our workers with their PPE on!”

~ Ashley, MD FACOG in Texas
Received a PPE Protection Package

Packages That Are Just Right

We’ve heard from numerous PPE package recipients that the Protection Package of 50 N95 masks is just too much.  First, thank you for that feedback and for not being wasteful with this much-needed commodity.  Based on this feedback we have changed our Protection Package to 25 N95 masks or 25 KN95 masks and 25 surgical masks, depending on our supply.  We hope this new package size is a better fit for your needs.

Teaming Up with Doctors Without Borders

We are proud to report that HumankindNOW has donated 3,000 N95 masks to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), which will be distributed to medical facilities in Puerto Rico. The masks were donated as part of HumankindNOW’s goal to provide 10,000 medical professionals in the US with the PPE they need to do their jobs safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sophie Delaunay, Project Coordinator for MSF in Puerto Rico said “Some hospitals have resorted to giving each emergency room staff member one mask per week because of shortages. This donation from HumankindNOW comes at a critical time when supplies are desperately needed to help protect Puerto Rico’s essential medical staff.”
